Spotlight On: Monterrey Manufacturing

With over 40% of the world’s largest manufacturers operating in Monterrey, the northernmost state of mainland Mexico has over 13 clusters supporting nearly every manufacturing industry. Monterrey’s household appliance manufacturing industry accounts for 30% of Mexico’s national exports in the sector alone with mainstays such as Whirlpool and Mabe. Strategically located at the southern tip of Texas, Monterrey is connected to major North American transportation networks.

Spotlight On: Zacatecas Manufacturing

Zacatecas is the national leader in gold, zinc, lead and copper mining and production. Home to many international companies, 78% of Zacatecas precious metals are exported to the United States. In addition to mining and a steady agroindustry sector, Zacatecas is also a crucial part of the auto parts supply chain in Mexico feeding the automotive hub of Mexico in the El Bajio region. As with many locations like Tijuana and Queretaro, Zacatecas is now supporting major growth in aerospace manufacturing.

Spotlight On: Puebla Manufacturing

Puebla’s proximity to Mexico City and GDP comparable to whole countries like Panama and Paraguay make it a manufacturing standout in mainland Mexico. Volkswagen has been in Puebla since 1967 and over 4 million cars were produced in the state between 2011-2018. In addition to Puebla’s massive automotive manufacturing industry, textiles have always been a mainstay with over 95% of its textile exports bound for the United States. Companies looking to break into Mexico’s national food and beverage market will also find a well-established hub in the state of Puebla.
