of Mexico Manufacturing

The state of Aguascalientes is centrally located and part of the El Bajio manufacturing region in Mexico. A strong and mature manufacturing state, Aguascalientes is a financially secure location for investment with a Standard and Poor’s rating of MX AA+ and a Fitch Rating of AA+ (Mexico), BBB+ (international). Aguascalientes has a highly efficient and productive workforce with low turnover and has gone 48 years without an industrial strike.

Over 167 manufacturing companies from 24 countries have manufacturing operations in the region with the two largest contributors being the United States (24%) and Japan (51%).

Aguascalientes is known for its automotive assembly and auto parts manufacturing industries with 70% of production destined for export. Mercedes Benz and Nissan are the largest automotive assembly plants in the state, with Nissan operating two major facilities. Announced in January 2019, Mercedes Benz will now be exporting its new Class A sedan from its Aguascalientes plant to the United States.

Aguascalientes’ electronics manufacturing and industrial robotics manufacturing industries are going through an exciting growth stage. Companies like Texas Instruments, Sensata and Flextronics, amongst others, are making medical devices, copiers and printers, advanced optical systems, integrated circuits, nanocircuits, and industrial controls and sensors. Aguascalientes has 40 companies dedicated to the industrial robotics sector that includes: HiTech Systems Ltd, Auten, Yaskawa, Nachi and TEC. This sector has a more than 1,500 strong direct workforce.
