As the worldwide situation with COVID-19 (coronavirus) continues we would like to update our partners and clients in Mexico. Co-Production International is monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as things change on the ground in Mexico.

Travel Restricted at the U.S.-Mexico Border – What is Essential Travel?

Travel at the U.S.-Mexico border has been restricted to essential travel ONLY as of March 21, 2020.

Essential travel to the U.S. includes:

  • NEW! Manufacturing related business is considered essential travel. If you are a Mexican citizen and need to travel to the U.S. for manufacturing related business activities, you are allowed to cross the border. Note: Normal visa requirements still apply.

  • U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents returning to the United States

  • Travel to the U.S. for medical treatment

  • Travel to go to school in the U.S.
  • Those who work in the U.S. (example: farmworkers)
  • Those working in emergency and public health sectors (example: government functionaries, healthcare workers, those who are a part of federal, state, local, tribal and territorial emergency response, both regular and COVID-19 related.)
  • Those dedicated to cross-border business (example: truck drivers, customs brokerage house employees, Mexican customs officials)
  • Official government and diplomatic travel
  • U.S. military members, their partners and children, who wish to return to the U.S.
  • Those who are participating in military travel and operations

Non-Essential Travel to the U.S. includes:

Tourism, recreation, and cultural event travel
