Co-Production International (CPI) has announced a new consultancy agreement with the Japanese Maquiladora Association (JMA) based out of San Diego, California. CPI is a Shelter Company for manufacturing in Mexico and administrative services provider for manufacturers with offices in San Diego, California and Tijuana, Tecate, Mexicali and Guadalajara, Mexico. Akira Osuga, Vice President of Business Planning and Japanese Marketing for CPI is heading the Mexico manufacturing consulting services with the JMA.

President Trump made a surprise tariff announcement today that will impose a new 10% tariff on $300 billion worth of Chinese imports with an effective date of September 1st. This move came after trade talks between the U.S. and China in Shanghai this week. While President Trump remarked that the talks were constructive, he tweeted that the new tariffs were in response China’s desire to renegotiate a previous deal prior to signing, as well as the failure to buy US agricultural products and stop fentanyl sales as promised. China insists it has purchased millions of tons of U.S. soybeans since July 19th, as well as cotton, pork and sorghum.
