Convinced of the need of joining efforts to increment the development of the so called Mega Region "Cali-Baja", the board of directors of the Tijuana EDC and the San Diego Chamber of Commerce agreed to work together to strengthen the promotion efforts.
Invited to the bimonthly session organized by the Tijuana EDC (Deitac), the President of San Diego Chamber of Commerce, Jerry Sanders, recognized the potential that the innovation and the human capital in Tijuana represents to attract investors to both sides of the border.
"To accomplish this, we must work hand in hand in the industrial promotion activities, the world must see us as one region that counts with all the elements to welcome any corporation interested in establishing operations here" he stated.
He exemplify that the medical manufacturing industry in Tijuana and the state of California generates the #1 production worldwide, which proofs the region's potential. In addition, the aerospace, electronics and automotive sectors can detonate in the same way. Highlighted the former Mayor of San Diego.
He added that they will also work in conjunction with the Tijuana EDC to mutually benefit from the development of projects such as the expediting of border crossing and the operation of a better railroad infrastructure that will improve the transit of goods between Mexico and the United States.
Enrique Esparza, Chairman of the Tijuana EDC emphasized that today industry corporations in San Diego recognize what the local economy represent for their own city, therefor they established to maintain the collaboration in economic promotions.
"Both cities have a significant purchasing power and we are convinced that by working as a team we can do even better, that is why the main message of this meeting is to strengthen the cooperation efforts" he communicated.
In that sense, Enrique Esparza highlighted that the majors of Tijuana and San Diego, Jorge Astiazaran and Kevin Falcouner, respectively, have also expressed their commitment to reinforce the binational relations and follow up with the projects that will have regional impact.
The Chairman of the Tijuana EDC also added that in the upcoming weeks executives and officials of various cities will go on promotion trips with the objective of finding investment to the Mega Region.
