The new Hunucma-Merida Industrial Corridor is an exciting new development home to several industrial parks and lots for lease. This Hunucma industrial zone is connected with railways and highways, and already has utility infrastructure in place for natural gas, water, fiber optics, and electricity.

Merida has well established highways and railway system connected to the Port of Progreso and to the rest of Mexico. Fiber optics, voice and data, water, natural gas, and electricity are available in Merida. The state as a whole stands out in in generation, transmission and distribution of electric power, potable water supply and piped gas to the final consumer, ranking fifth nationally in the first 5 months of 2019.

The Federal Electricity Commission's new electric power generation plant, Merida 4, will be established in Yucatan this year will have a capacity of 300 megawatts (MW) and is expected to increase to 500 MW by 2023 and to reach 1,000 MW by 2026, guaranteeing the supply of consumption for the next 15 years.

Merida is located just twenty miles from the Port of Progreso directly connecting container ships major ports in the southern United States, South America, Europe, and Asia.

Well-known for being the only offshore port in the country, the Port of Progreso has a 4.11 mile-long pier and a 4.68 mile-long shipping channel, 492 feet wide and 42 feet deep. Línea Peninsular, with a regular service two times a week connecting Progreso with the Port of Panama City, FL, as well as a weekly service to/from Houston, Texas and the Hapag Lloyd, where, through an agreement with shippers Hanjin Shipping, Hapag Lloyd and CMA-CMG respectively, freight is moved to/from the entire world.

Hamburg Süd connects Progreso with port of the Caribbean and Central America, as well as to/from Asia, Europe and South America. Melfi Marine Corp. also connects Progreso with Gulf ports, the Caribbean and the European Mediterranean, through the port of Havana, Cuba.
