Baja California Is the Third Place in Exports in the Entire Country

Baja California has so far the third place in exports in the entire country, as recorded during the first quarter of the year.

In fact, the leader of the Centro Metropolitano de Información Económica y Empresarial (CEMDI), Aram Hodoyán Navarro, Mexico's exports to the entire world had a value of $118,324,690 thousand dollars.

The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) reports that the states with the highest exports were Chihuahua with 14.30% of all exports in Mexico, followed by Coahuila with 11.76% and Baja California with 10.28%.

Likewise, the CEMDI leader shared that 95.67% of exports are from the maquiladora industry and that the manufacturing of computer equipment, televisions and electronic devices was 33.87%, while transportation was 18.96%.

With 2.76% industrial growth, Tijuana becomes the market with the highest percentage of growth in Mexico during the second quarter of 2022, said Marcos Alvarez, CEO of Market Analysis.

Several industries established or expanded their operations in Tijuana. The main sectors were electrical-electronics (21%), textiles (13%), medical (12%), packaging (12%), automotive (9%), recycling (9%), metal-mechanics (8%), and printing (6%).

In terms of investments, the main player was the United States, with 61% of the square footage absorption. To a lesser extent, Taiwan (12%), Japan (9%), China (9%), Mexico (6%), and Germany (3%) participated.
