The most recent business to make an investment in a new production facility in Mexico is the Austrian industrial company, Miba.
The USD $25 million investment is yet another international corporation wanting to nearshore in Mexico and will be made in the city of Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila.
Miba develops and produces functionally critical components along the entire energy value chain. Around the world, products manufacturers from Miba include powder metal parts, bearings, friction materials, power electronics components, coatings, and e-mobility components used in things like wind turbines, power grids, agricultural and construction machines, ships, and airplanes.
The new plant is expected to create more than 180 jobs, including highly skilled engineering jobs, according to the Coahuila state government. The official event announcing the investment was attended by Coahuila Governor Miguel Angel Riquelme, Ramos Arizpe Mayor José Mara Morales and representatives of the Austrian company.
Miba will be the 10th manufacturer so far to enter the northern state of Coahuila in 2023, as the state's proximity to important US markets encourages investment in the Mexican border region.
The nearshoring trend has led to a rising demand for shelter companies like Co-Production International, which provide a streamlined way for businesses to establish their operations in Mexico. By partnering with CPI, we will help you bringing a robust network of strategic partners and dedicated teams to get up and running. Human resources, recruitment, hiring, and compliance with labor laws fall under CPI’s Shelter IMMEX Program, which allows manufacturers to focus 100% on manufacturing while CPI handles the rest.
Additionally, Mexico's manufacturing sector continues to thrive, supported by its skilled workforce, favorable business environment, and proximity to the US and Canada. As more businesses seek to take advantage of these benefits, shelter companies are likely to play an increasingly important role in supporting the growth of nearshoring in Mexico.
